Zelman and Wolfe Explain Why We Must Make Unconventional Alliances
It's time for Bill of Rights advocates from different parts of the philosophical spectrum to quit shouting at each other and begin shouting together for the return of liberty.
That's what Aaron Zelman and Claire Wolfe say in their new article, "Reach Out for the Bill of Rights." They write that, to restore liberty, we must make friends (or at least build philosophical alliances with) some traditional opponents.
Why? Because we are losing the culture war -- not only on the Second Amendment, but on the entire Bill of Rights. Since 9-11, even the sacred First Amendment has been increasingly under attack. As long as we continue to lose the hearts and minds of Americans, we'll lose our political battles, as well. But the increasing attacks on our freedoms present us with an opportunity, as well as a dire need to act.
We must forge alliances to win back ALL of the Bill of Rights for ALL Americans.

- WHY we urgently need to make connections with traditional political opponents on issues where we can find common ground;
- HOW to forge effective philosophical alliances; and
- WHAT NOT TO DO when working with people whose fundamental viewpoints and working styles may be different than ours.
The article focuses on no particular issue, which makes it perfect for sharing with the opponents with whom you want to build bridges. It's not about politics; it's about freedom for ALL -- regardless of whether we are left, right, or libertarian.
