Aptos California: In the wake of a 500% increase in violent crime in the last 40 years, 88,000 registered sex offenders in California alone, and one in 32 adults in the US either in prison, jail, on parole or probation, a not- for-profit organization has taken on the challenge to do something about it. American Council on Personal Safety, an organization with over 300 volunteer members has produced a free, one hour crime prevention seminar and video entitled, 'Protecting Yourself, Your Family, and Your Home.'
Robert Chesney, producer of 'Window On Wall Street' and now Spokesperson for American Council on Personal Safety states, "With a violent crime occurring ever 22 seconds in the US, a rape every 5.8 minutes, and a murder every 34 minutes we live in the most violent period in modern times. If not for the advances in emergency room medicine, the murder rate would be ten time higher. Fortunately, 98% of all crime is premeditated and can be prevented if you know what to look for and what to do. American Council on Personal Safety, through its 300 volunteer members and its free, one hour crime prevention video is teaching Americans exactly what to look for and what to do to prevent themselves, and their families from becoming a victims of crime." ACPS volunteers in your town will come to your place of business, civic clubs, community centers and government offices to provide a free one hour training seminar covering lifesaving topics including:
- The Truth About Crime in America Today
- The Criminal's Wish List
- 50 Ways to Protect What is Important to You
- A Trained Mind and Body-Your Best Defense
- Other Options to Protect Yourself, your Family, and Your Home
- And Much More
For those towns that do not yet have a trained ACPS Volunteer, for a limited time only, you can order a free, one hour video of the ACPS presentation, narrated by Window on Wall Street's Robert Chesney.
Christine Keyes, Vice President and Branch Manager of Wells Fargo Bank in Aptos, California understands the importance of ACPS crime prevention training. Since 1979 she has been the victim of nine robberies and a home invasion. She is living proof that with one in 32 adults in the US having a criminal record it is not a question of 'IF' you or your family will come in contact with a violent criminal, but rather a question of 'WHEN.' Upon hearing about the American Council on Personal Safety, Branch Manager Keyes arranged for ACPS to provide their crime prevention seminar for her staff at Wells Fargo. Says Ms. Keyes, "American Council on Personal Safety provides a very timely and impressive presentation. I found the material especially intriguing and sobering. What ACPS is doing through their volunteer member's efforts is quite commendable."
"As with anything in this great country of our, Americans want a choice", says Robert Chesney, National Spokesperson for ACPS, "Do we want our families to live in fear, or do we want to know what to look for and what to do to prevent criminal attack. American Council on Personal Safety provides that choice and it is free of charge."
The American Council On Personal Safety delivers their fully researched and very valuable crime prevention and personal safety training through public service lectures, provided at no-charge by their many volunteer members throughout the U.S. ACPS is also offering a free 60-minute video or DVD available to individuals, businesses, civic groups and other organizations through their website at www.acps.us. The video entitled, "Protecting Yourself, Your Family, and Your Home" is available free of charge through the generosity of corporate sponsors and will be shipped on a first-come, first-served basis until the supply of free videos and DVD's have been exhausted. Interested individuals and organizations are encouraged to order a free video tape immediately.
