In his latest article for Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, "Setting a 'LEO' Straight", award-winning novelist and columnist L. Neil Smith takes on a retired "law enforcement officer" who mistakenly believes that he is a friend of the Second Amendment, but wrote to the Liberty Crew at JPFO complaining that a previous column by Neil ("With Friends Like The NRA ... " http://www.jpfo.org/smith/smith-friends-like-nra.htm ) is "too radical".
Stopping just short of quoting Barry Goldwater: "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice; moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue," Neil counters each of the erstwhile policeman's fallacious contentions, and tries to teaches him a little Second Amendment -- and Nuremberg Tribunal -- history along the way.
This kind of effort is important. It will be your own friendly neighborhood cops who will come to collect your guns if the government ever decides to attempt confiscation. Local police need to be educated about the Bill of Rights and their absolute obligation to uphold and defend it, even -- or especially -- if the orders come down from their immediate "superiors", to whom they must acquire the courage to just say "No!"
