Project Veritas has launched a new video (below) that is extremely indicative of attitudes from some police departments over 'civilian' self defense -- concentrating for the most part on New York and New Jersey State's examples. Of course, the police have no obligation to protect the individual, as ruled by court, and so mainly fight crime by trying to intercede before an event or, as perhaps tragically too often, turn up afterwards to measure up, summon the coroner, collect evidence, and then try and find perpetrators.
The reporter asks various questions, such as what response time might be if summoned. One very optimistic answer was two minutes but others were more vague and even cavalier in nature. Answers as to what to do during the time in extremis prior to help arriving, varied from locking oneself into the bathroom and screaming, to just having a phone to the ear pretending or otherwise to be calling 911! Most answers are almost amusing and promote the idea that all that is needed is to say to an armed intruder "Will you hold on please while I dial 911, get my baseball bat etc". One particular question asking about a shotgun in the home got this answer "Rifle, shotgun - not for home - for luxury!"
So, this is what many people face, in particular when they are unfortunate enough to live in a state where the armed self defense option is discouraged (even if a permit could be obtained). Watch the film and see for yourself the various responses. This film needs seen to appreciate the depth of seeming nonchalance or even disinterest.
