First of all - be amazed at the apparent depth of D.C. law regarding firearms - they have to be registered, and only those who are registered can possess ammunition including, (wait for it) -- spent cases! Infringement penalties are beyond draconian.

Here is a case which all but defies belief. Following a false charge of threat with a firearm as a means for an estranged wife to gain a restraining order, the victim receives a warrented search by 30 tactically dressed armed officers. During a search which tears the home apart, four items were found -- a 12G misfire (pretty useless!), a handgun holster (legal), a .270 spent shell case and a box of reloading bullets.
