Cuomo's "gift" to New York

Share/Bookmark

On January 15th, 2013, The New York Senate passed a broad spectrum gun control bill. The speed and draconian nature of this legislation left everyone almost gasping for breath. "It is comprehensive. It is sound," Cuomo told reporters late Monday. "It addresses the multifaceted problem that we're dealing with. It protects, I believe, hunters and sportsmen, et cetera, and legitimate gun owners". Then -- "We're not looking to demonize gun owners," Cuomo said. "Gun owners have done nothing wrong.". Right -- believe that if you will!

Cuomo's bill -- named the 'Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act', or 'NY SAFE' -- would enact a number of new measures, including an 'assault weapons' ban, a ban of all magazines that hold more than seven rounds and universal background checks for all gun sales, regardless of whether they are private, person-to-person sales. Visit our Handbills Page for options on a larger version of this new handbill shown below, which makes a simple statement. There is also a USA Today article referencing this legislation.

Refer to the "Sandy Hook Index" for an archive collection of material we have shown since the tragic events at the Newtown Elementary School. Most is directly resulting from the event but also there are items simply clarifying various aspects of the "gun control" issue.
