The chicken littles of the the right to self-defense,
don't want you to know this
With the probable exception of Fox News, the main-stream-media has been desultory in reporting new figures produced by Pew Research on homicides and gun crime. Many reading this may well already be up to speed on the news but equally, as it has hardly received stellar reporting status, many may not.
You can find the new Pew Report to inspect the full details, as well as other reports and comment from sites such as LaTimes.com -- "Gun crime has plunged, but Americans think it's up, says study", AZCentral.com -- "Pew: Americans unaware of plunge in gun deaths", and UnitedLiberty.org -- "An Inconvenient Truth: Gun Homicide Rate Drops by 49% Since 1993". Below are two Pew Report graphics showing the trends.
Needless to say, the anti-freedom crowd would much rather you did not know about this, as efforts continue to try and impose more and more restrictions, all in the name of 'crime control'. We have to wonder cynically where the figures come from suggesting more than half the populace believes gun crime has increased. Perhaps that is something we can blame on the media!
