The Second Amendment ain't about hunting

Share/Bookmark

Whether the Second Amendment is only about hunting or not, is an ongoing and old (tired) debate, missing of course the actual aim of the 2A. From 1991 (yes, same old debate back then!) -- a piece was written by Thomas M. Moncure, Jr., Howard University Law School, in which he goes into great detail from an historical perspective, along with a great many references.

It is sometimes useful to refresh ourselves about background history and while over 20 years old, this article is an interesting read and is no less valid now in 2013. It also touches on other aspects of the Second Amendment of course, such as the "assault weapons'' controversy and the overall protection of basic liberty. You can find the article here on JPFO.

Refer to the "Sandy Hook Index" for an archive collection of material we have shown since the events at the Newtown Elementary School. Much is directly resulting from that but also there are items simply clarifying various aspects of the "gun control" issue which has been such a hot button topic again.
