rebuttals to "Gun Control"
June 22nd 2013
"Nullification" is on the increase as a trend, with numerous states opposing Federal intervention over implementation of restrictive firearms laws. While in theory these efforts may not legally have really sharp teeth, the message should be very clear regarding how people feel.
"The Supreme Court ruled in 1997 that local police could not be compelled to carry out provisions of a federal gun control law, but some states are now attempting to take that a step further by asserting that certain federal laws can't even be enforced by federal authorities." (Note: - this is written about within the main article and there is a footnote memo that has been added, to expand and clarify the Supremacy Clause.)
Apparently the law is clear regarding the supremacy clause (of the U.S. Constitution), which says specifically that the federal laws are supreme over contrary state laws, even if the state doesn't like those laws. However, in the current climate where there is egregious flouting of the Constitution at Federal level, perhaps there is a time approaching when the boot can be on the other foot as the 2A is upheld at state level!
Whether these state measures will in the end be successful is another matter but there is much to be encouraged about potentially. Read the entire article on this subject to get up-to-date on the nullification issue -
NOTE: The main article now has an added memo from Alan Korwin concerning the Supremacy Clause.

Thought for the day -- "Isn't it strange that after a bombing, everyone blames the bomber ... but after a shooting, the problem is the Gun ! "
