Answer: Yes indeed! The only membership requirement is that you support all of the Bill of Rights for all citizens!
Answer: Absolutely not! JPFO respects the privacy of members and also all who sign up for alerts. Lists are never shared, sold or otherwise released to anyone.
"This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future."
-- Adolph Hitler, 1935
Answer: No, it’s a hoax. At least, nobody has been able to verify it. For more information, see:
The following is authentic:
Der größte Unsinn, den man in den besetzen Ostgebieten machen könnte, sei der, den unterworfenen Völkern Waffen zu geben. Die Geschichte lehre, daß alle Herrenvölker untergegangen seien, nachdem sie den von ihnen unterworfenen Volkern Waffen bewilligt hatten.
[The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so.]
-- Adolf Hitler (1889-1945), April 11, 1942, quoted in Hitlers Tischegesprache Im Fuhrerhauptquartier 1941-1942. [Hitler’s Table-Talk at the Fuhrer’s Headquarters 1941-1942], Dr. Henry Picker, ed. (Athenaum-Verlag, Bonn, 1951)

Answer: "Gun control? It’s the best thing you can do for crooks and gangsters. I want you to have nothing. If I’m a bad guy, I’m always gonna have a gun. Safety locks? You will pull the trigger with a lock on, and I’ll pull the trigger. We’ll see who wins."
-- Sammy "the Bull" Gravano, mafia hit man and informant, in Vanity Fair, August 1999.

Answer: JPFO has several programs in which you can get involved. Most of them are things you can do as an individual or in a group. Here are some ideas:
1. Distribute JPFO booklets to family, friends, civic group or gun club members, scout troops, college student organizations, etc. Education is our #1 tactic.
2. Write letters to the editor on issues such as Bill of Rights Day, Racist Roots of Gun Control, and Dial 911 and Die (the police protection myth). (Use samples on website if desired.)
3. Write letters to corporations and other entities challenging their support for "gun control." JPFO has a number of sample letters on the website you can use or tailor to your needs.
4. Contact a local government representative, such as councilman, assemblyman, mayor, etc. about having a Bill of Rights Day resolution introduced and passed. Sample resolution is available on the website, or contact us for more information. (Sometimes a group of two or more working together can increase the chances of BORD resolutions in local and state governments…. yet individuals have been able to get them passed, too.)
5. Contribute funds to JPFO to further our work. (Either direct contributions or by purchase of products and materials.) You’d be amazed how efficient JPFO is, and especially when compared to some larger organizations.
6. Encourage others to join JPFO, or at least to subscribe to our free internet alert system. (Give them sample materials to stimulate their interest.) Having a booth at a gun show is a great way to easily get the message out and sign up members.
7. Sponsor a bill board advertisement in your town. Contact us for details. This really works … and fast!
8. Write a personal letter to a favorite talk show host … ask him or her to interview JPFO generally … or me (Richard Stevens) about the Dial 911 and Die book.
9. Sponsor an essay contest at a local high school or college … topic on the Bill of Rights or the Second Amendment or the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Supply applicants with JPFO materials as resources. [more more more]
We have tons of ideas … let us know what interests you. (All of these ideas have been done successfully by others.) We’ll work with you.

Answer: Gun Owners of America (a splendid organization we encourage you to join) has the true statistics and their sources on their website at http://www.gunowners.org/fs9901.htm.
See also our page Doctors and Guns which has several articles on the use and misuse of statistics. (Currently probably still in the early, old style format.)
Answer: At JPFO we frequently receive questions about political candidates and proposed legislation, but because we are a tax-exempt educational organization JPFO cannot and does not get involved with candidates, elections, or lobbying for laws. Information about legislation, political candidates and elections can sometimes be found via Gun Owners of America.
Click on http://www.gunowners.org Look at GOA’s state alerts section or the Links section to get local and state information.
Call GOA in Virginia at: PH: 703-321-8585, Fax: 703-321-8408 Please contact these organizations, not JPFO, for information about these matters. (As far as we know these numbers should still be valid).
Answer: We have placed this on its own page. (Currently probably still in the early, old style format.)
Answer: We have placed our thoughts on this on its own page: Jews and Gun Control.

Question: In his book Unintended Consequences, page 396, John Ross makes reference to a document titled: "The Right to Keep and Bear Arms" This is supposed to be a Report of the Subcommittee on the Constiutuion of the Committee on the Judiciary , United States Senate 97th Congress, 2nd Session 1982. Is this a real document? If so, is there anyway to obtain a copy of it?
Answer: Yes, it is a real document. It is out-of-print from the Government Printing Office, but is on the web in HTML format at the website of the Constitution Society: The Right to Keep and Bear Arms, html format The Right to Keep and Bear Arms, text format, The Right to Keep and Bear Arms, MS Word format.

Question: Paul Harvey read something about "Gun Control" on his radio show. Do you have a copy of it?
Answer: Yes, finally we do, here it is:
Are you considering backing gun control laws? Do you think that because you may not own a gun, the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment don’t matter?
CONSIDER THESE -- In 1929 the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, approximately 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. In 1911,
Turkey established gun control. From 1915-1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, the mentally ill, and others, who were unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million "educated" people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
That places total victims who lost their lives because of gun control at approximately 56 million in the last century. Since we should learn from the mistakes of history, the next time someone talks in favor of gun control, find out which group of citizens they wish to have exterminated.
It has now been many months since gun owners in Australia were forced to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed, a program costing the government more than $500 million dollars. The results Australia-wide: homicides are up 3.2‰, assaults are up 8‰, armed robberies are up 44‰. In that country’s state of Victoria, homicides with firearms are up 300‰. Over the previous 25 years, figures show a steady decrease in armed robberies and Australian politicians are on the spot and at a loss to explain how no improvement in "safety" has been observed after such monumental effort and expense was successfully expended in "ridding society of guns."
It’s time to state it plainly; guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws only affect the law-abiding citizens. Take action before it’s too late, write or call your delegation.

Answer: Since the early 1800’s, the Supreme Court and the other federal courts have been recognized as the entities that "interpret" the Constitution and its amendments.
The federal courts had never held that the Second Amendment applies to the States, but now the Supreme Court has unequivocally held that it applies to state and local governments, and not just to the feds. Some scholars, even pro-rights scholars, had said that the Second Amendment acts as a limitation on the federal government only. Other scholars say it should limit the federal and state governments both.
Most of the federal appeals courts had held that the Second Amendment protects the right of State governments to form armed militias. According to most scholarly articles published in law journals, and according to so many authors who have researched the subject, those federal courts are wrong -- the Founders intended and wrote the Second Amendment to protect the right of the people, i.e. individual citizens.
Congress often enacts laws that might be unconstitutional -- Congress enacts the laws and lets the federal courts decide whether the laws are constitutional or not. The courts only make those decisions months, years or decades later, when a lawsuit winds its way through the process and gets decided on an appeal on the merits.
At JPFO, we work to change the culture of America so that the people, including elected officials and judges, will realize that "gun control" is immoral, unconstitutional and dangerous, and that they therefore will reject "gun control" laws at every level. Please join us in our work by becoming and remaining a member, and by using our materials to influence other Americans.
Answer: The JPFO webmaster greatly appreciates any feedback about problems, whether regarding a "dead" link or even a display problem. Do please drop us an email with details - what page was a bad link on and what was the link? If a display problem - a brief description, the page concerned and also if possible the browser in use and what version etc. A screen grab also is always most useful. We try to keep problems at bay and resolve any we find as soon as possible.
